Movies

Hidden Figures

December 25 (2016)

STEM Astronaut Based-On-A-True-Story Geeks

So technically this movie came out in 2016, but it is definitely a must see for Nerds and Geeks alike.  It is based on the true story of 3 Female Black Mathematicians who greatly impact the space race of the 50s & 60s.

Underworld: Blood Wars

January 6

Full Moon Lycanthrope Blood Sucking Vampire Geeks

Noir themed Vampire vs Werewolf action is back. Kate Beckinsale is reprising her role as the most bad-ass vampire killing vampire since Blade and we can’t wait.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

January 27

Zombocalypse Geeks

With a name like “The Final Chapter”, we can only assume this is the end of the long-running Resident Evil movie franchise.  Similar to the Fast and Furious titles, you know exactly what you are getting with these movies– Obligatory zombie/super zombie violence, crazy Gun fu acrobatics and a dash of gamer easter eggs.

John Wick: Chapter 2

February 10

Hitman dog-loving Geeks

The original was one of our favorite movies of 2014 and quite easily one of the best action movies ever. Based on the trailer for John Wick 2–This Movie Will Be Bad Ass.

The Lego Batman Movie

February 10 (uh-oh)

Everything-is-Awesome Caped Crusading Geeks

Will Arnett took on the role of Batman for The Lego Movie and was awesome.  Now the toys you hate to step on are back with a spin-off Lego Batman with the same hilarious tone.

Logan

March 3

X-men cinematic universe Geeks

Honestly, we are excited that this is the last one. The Fox X-men cinematic universe has left much to be desired for us at GeekSide, failing to appeal to audiences with the same themes and motifs as the X-men comics and animated shows we can only hope that this is a good ending to a cinematic franchise with a very mixed reception.

Kong: Skull Island

March 10

Old-School-Classic Geeks

First introduced in 1933 Skull Island is the iconic home of King Kong.  Paying homage to the original and bolstering a star-studded cast Kong has the makings for a great cinematic experience.

Power Rangers

March 24

Mighty Morphin’ Geeks

The 90’s phenomena gets a gritty reboot.  The Power Rangers aims to bring the franchise back to life. If it can live up to the hype it is creating audiences everywhere might be blown out of their seats to synchronized flip over oddly placed cameras.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

May 5

Rag Tag Team Up Geeks

Starlord and his crew are back for another dysfunctional, yet hilarious attempt at keeping the galaxy safe from Thanos.

Alien: Covenant

May 19

Game-Over-Man Space Horror Geeks

The Alien franchise continues as Covenant plans to deliver more backstory about the disturbing alien species and their plans for humanity.
